Brothers, Sisters and Sons
At the beginning of a year, I would like to extend my congratulations
and best wishes to each and every Egyptian, man or woman all over Egypt
and to our compatriots abroad.
With more self-confidence and trust in the future of our homeland, we
have bidden farewell to a passing year that had brought with it several
developments and successive events to Egypt, the region and the world.
We welcome a New Year with further hope, resolve, determination and firm
belief that we are on the right track and that our achievements so far
qualify us for more to be made in the New Year and those to come.
Looking at the domestic Egyptian scene, we recognize that, in spite of
the difficulties and challenges we face, we are in a better position
than we were a few years ago. Scrutinizing our regional and global
milieus, we will find that, in terms of peace, security, stability and
achievements, we are better than others and we are increasingly
optimistic about the future of Egypt and Egyptians.
We receive a new year with a more robust economy, with steadily
improving indicators and a growing capacity to attract investment, to
achieve high and sustainable rates of growth and job provision.
We welcome this year, looking forward to new resources that allow us to
give more focus on the social dimension and realize social justice. We
continue to side with poor and limited –income brackets, assisting and
providing decent life for them.
We embark on a new year with a stable and secure society amidst an area
that surges with crises, bloodshed and risks of extremism and terrorism,
with an Egyptian society that adheres so tenaciously to its national
unity that no body can impair the solidarity of its Muslims and Copts
nor can impede its progress towards a better present and morrow.
Egypt does step into the new year with credibility and a stature on the
regional and international levels that reflects its weight, mobility and
role in the face of the Middle East conflict, together with an
unshakable resolve to pursue its efforts in favour of the just causes of
its Arab nation and the stability of the region.
Dear citizens,
We receive the year 2008 with a society that is more entrenched in
democracy, more robust in economy and solidarity of its citizens.
We stand at its threshold, determined to pursue reform in all areas and
development in all sectors of production and services.
We welcome the New Year with trust, hope and self-confident of our
ability to solve the problems and challenges we encounter. We never lose
sight of the milestones of our road to the future and we are confident
that, with the help and guidance of Allah, we will realize our
aspired-for hopes and ambition.
Hand in hand, we forge our way forward, elevating Egypt's standing, all
converging on its banner and building with our own hands the future of
the homeland and citizens.
I wish you and your families all the best in the New Year.
May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon you.
