President Mubarak together with Bahraini King Hamad Bin Eassa A`al Khalifa held significant tęte – a tęte talks in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El – Sheikh. Both leaders looked into the outcome of the Arab summit held in Beirut including an overall evaluation of the Arab world situations.

President Mubarak presided over a meeting with the political ministerial group at the Presidential palace of Heliopolis where Mubarak presented his reasons for not attending the Arab summit held in Beirut.

President Mubarak chaired a meeting with the ministerial economic group to review the final draft of the proposed 2002/2003 state budget.

President Mubarak met with Libyan Secretary of the Information Popular Committee Mr. Abdullah Mansour who conveyed Gaddafi’s perspective on a number of the Arab world and information issues.

President Mubarak chaired two Cabinet meetings dealing with the current investment position, necessary measures for attracting potential investments and the development of railway.

President Mubarak after inaugurating the renovated archeological sites in Luxor addressed the world in a message confirming that Arabs made peace as their strategic option since the 1996 Arab summit held in Cairo.

Both Presidents Mubarak and Al Assad took a tour in the monumental area of the Pyramids where they visited sites of the Sun Boats and Sphinx.

President Mubarak held bilateral talks at the Presidential lounge of Cairo Airport with his Syrian counterpart Bashar Al Assad who arrived to Cairo on a few hour visit.

President Mubarak received Omani Foreign Minister Youssef Bin A`alawy Bin Abdullah who carried a message from Sultan Qabous Bin Said of Oman involving consultation and coordination among Cairo and Muscat in preparation for the Arab summit anticipated to be held in Beirut.

President Mubarak received Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Alfaisal to look into the Arabic strategy for peace as well as efforts exerted to halt the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.

President Mubarak discussed with Jordanian Prime Minister Mr. Aly Aboul Ragheb the undergoing efforts aiming to put an end to the crisis of the Palestinian people, the current American steps to rescue the peace process, as well as the upcoming Arab summit related issues.

President Mubarak convened with Iraqi Vice Chairman of the Revolutionary Command Council Mr. Ezzat Ibrahim who posted Mubarak on the Iraqi position towards the American threats.

President Mubarak held a meeting with Tunisian Prime Minister Dr. Mohamed Ghannouchi to discuss bilateral cooperation in light of the meeting of the 10th session of the Higher Egyptian – Tunisian Committee.

President Mubarak received US Vise President Richard Cheney who arrived to Cairo from Jordan during hi s Middle East tour including 11 countries. Mubarak discussed with Cheney developments of the situation in the Palestinian territories, on going efforts to contain the escalating violence and achieve a cease-fire in preparation to resume negotiations.

President Mubarak received newly assigned Ministers of Health and Population, Civil Aviation and Transportation who took the oath at the Presidential Palace of Heliopolis.

President Mubarak chaired a Cabinet meeting to discuss several major national issues.

President Mubarak discussed with Saudi Foreign Minister Saud Al Faisal who is visiting Cairo to participate in the Arab Foreign Ministers meeting the situation in the Palestinian territories and the Saudi initiative as well as the issues to be discussed during the coming Arab summit.

President Mubarak had an intensely busy schedule on his last day of the USA visit having to meet a number of senior officials including representatives of the Senates and Representatives Foreign relation committees, Senates Sub Appropriations Committee and other members of the Senate.

President Mubarak held extended talks with Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld at the Pentagon.

President Mubarak together with US President George W. Bush held a summit at the White House. Both leaders confirmed a necessity for collective efforts aiming to halt violence in the Middle East and boost the peace process. .

President Mubarak met with Commerce Secretary Donald Evans who described the meeting as very fruitful.

President Mubarak expressed his sincere appreciation to the US Volunteers Organization during a celebration when he was decorated with the Torsh of Liberty Medal in recognition to Mubarak’s significant contributions to the areas of freedom and democracy.
